Unbeaten No. 14 Louisville savors another comeback win while striving for a complete performance

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Louisville’s quick start is ironic considering it hasn’t always started quickly.Three second-half comebacks have helped the No. 14 Cardinals (6-0, 3-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) achieve their best start in 10 years, with Saturday night’s 33-20 victory over then-No. 10 Notre Dame being the latest rally. Granted, a 13-10 deficit was significantly easier to overcome compared to double-digit holes against Georgia Tech and North Carolina State; but it spoke volumes about their resilience. As Louisville savors a signature victory over one of college football’s most storied programs, work continues toward a complete effort.“Once you win a game like that, the bar goes from here up to here,” first-year coach Jeff Brohm said, raising the palm of his hand. “Every week in college football, if you don’t come ready to play you are not going to win. We’re going to have to get back to work over 24 hours.”Like other rallies, Louisville’s final 30 minutes against the Fighting Ir...Nobel economics prize goes to professor for advancing understanding of women’s labor market outcomes

Prince George’s County, Maryland, officials and the D.C. Coalition Against Domestic Violence are working to let victims and their families know what resources are available to them.“We support them, and we seek justice for them,” Prince George’s County State’s Attorney Aisha Braveboy said. “You can be anonymous.”Braveboy’s office was among those that worked to turn strangulation, sometimes identified as a “red flag” in domestic violence cases, into a first-degree felony offense. The law went into effect in October 2020 as Prince George’s County officials worked to create a new set of protocols for dealing with domestic violence in the years since.“We stand ready and able to assist all victims, whether they wanna come forward on the criminal side or not. To assist them with housing, counseling and other resources so that they don’t have to return to a dangerous situation,” Braveboy said.Micaela Deming...France captain Antoine Dupont authorized to resume collective training at Rugby World Cup

PARIS (AP) — France captain Antoine Dupont has been cleared to resume collective training after a positive check-up following surgery on a facial fracture, the French rugby federation said Monday.Dupont was examined on Monday by the doctor who repaired the fracture he sustained during a World Cup match against Namibia last month. The injury has put him on the sidelines and it’s still unclear whether he will be able to play against South Africa in Sunday’s quarterfinals.Dupont, widely regarded as the world’s best player, had already resumed training lightly after rejoining the France squad just 10 days after undergoing surgery. He was injured in an illegal head-on-head tackle during a 96-0 blowout victory over Namibia in Marseille. The scrumhalf then traveled to Toulouse, where he plays his club rugby, for the operation.Dupont’s absence in France’s final pool game against Italy was not a problem, as Les Tricolores easily won 60-7. But the French have a mu...Israeli defense minister orders ‘complete siege’ on Gaza Strip with no electricity, food or fuel

DENVER (KDVR) — U.S. Rep. Jason Crow, for Colorado's 6th Congressional District, spoke out Sunday about the war quickly unfolding in the Middle East. “This is an outright attack on our allies in Israel," Crow said. Hamas militants fired thousands of rockets and sent dozens of fighters into Israeli towns near the Gaza Strip in an unprecedented surprise early morning attack during a major Jewish holiday Saturday, killing dozens and stunning the country. Hamas surprise attack stuns Israel, leaves hundreds dead in fighting, retaliation Israel said it is now at war with Hamas and launched airstrikes in Gaza, vowing to inflict an “unprecedented price.”“We have to continue to stand by them," Crow said Sunday. "They are one of our strongest partners in the Middle East, and we need to be the support they need to respond to this and protect themselves." Crow said right now things are at a standstill when it comes to being able to send emergency aid to Israel. He said that's all due to the a...Latest news
